Great post John. I too am frequently bored in church. These days I attend a Mennonite church which has it's own non-Eucaristic liturgy; the same thing week after week with sermons always oriented on how we are to be "good people." I recently confronted my pastor with the fact that God and Jesus are presuppositions at our church, rarely is the sermon heard about the saving acts of our gracious God.

I do miss smells and bells somewhat, and singing that 'feels' inspired but I think Jeff would remind me that worship is what I make of it, so I am learning just to try and have an open and humble attitude. It's the best I can do for now.
